I really like the idea behind this video. Its very simple, yet effective.
It starts off with a page which informs the viewer than in 1950 Michigan was one of 8 of the American states which collectively made up 36% of the GDP.
The video then proceeds to show us what Michigan is like now. The video is really interesting, in my opinion, because it highlights the decay of the state. All the locations chosen are derelict and run down. There are also a few people throughout the video which are representative of people living in this area. They too are representative of the decay of the area. The close up of the tramp especially highlights the hardship in this area.
I think that this idea was extremely clever and thought provoking. It made you think about the lyrics of the song, and how they had a deeper meaning - and could reflect the hardship of life. I particularly liked this video for that reason, because it gave me an alternative view point on the song. It was also a very simple idea that was executed well, and as a result was very effective.
Therefore, i think it could be a good starting point for our video. It highlights how simple ideas can be very thought provoking and interesting if executed well.
